Drug Demand Reduction Action Team (DRAT - Kandahar)

This project was funded by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in August 2005 with the goal to create awareness against the harmful effects of drugs cultivation, processing, consumption and trafficking in Kandahar and adjacent districts.

Around 8,039 social multipliers (students, teachers, farmers, local leaders, mullahs, local government officials and law enforcement agencies) attended the awareness events and training workshops. Around 43 drug addicts received community-based treatment and more than 120 addicts were referred to treatment centers to receive treatment. This was completed at the end of March 2006.
