Outreach/Drop-in Center (ODIC) in Logar Province Established in April 2005, this project is WADAN’s first project funded by INL through the Drug Advisory Program of the Colombo Plan.

The main tasks of the center are as follows:

We provide early intervention services and counseling to recovering drug addicts to prevent relapse, provide counseling to the co-dependents/family members, involve influential community members to help addicts and their families, we reach out to provide basic information, knowledge, and literature to those who do not want to appear in the hospitals or treatment centers, provide information and education to the high risk population in the community, and to provide a place and encourage meetings of support groups for recovering persons and co-dependents/ family members.

As of April 30, 2010, around 185 drug addicts (both men and women) received home-based drug treatment. An additional 429 motivated addicts were referred to WADAN’s drug treatment centers in the nearby provinces of Paktia, Maidan Wardak, and Kabul to receive residential treatment. Family counseling and therapy was received by around 955 persons, and drug education and awareness was provided to 4,887 social multipliers including students, teachers, local leaders, mullahs, local government officials, and members of law enforcement agencies.
