The National Maliks Association

NMA Membership

As mentioned in the NMA Structure, some district and provincial networks as well as a National Maliks Association have already been established, while WADAN will further develop these networks as it covers more districts and municipal districts (nahiyas) under the current grant for 2009. The NMA will have representatives from all the districts where the trainings have been held.

Since there are about 364 districts across the country, there will be a 1,800 – 2,000 member group composing the National Maliks Association once we cover the whole country. This will take one or two more years.

At the end of December 2008, the NMA membership reached to around 1,740 members. Once we encompass the whole country, NMA plans to expand the membership to all Maliks of the approximately 364 districts each district with approximately 50 to 70 Maliks. The total membership will grow to around 18,000 – 20,000 Maliks.

Therefore, the NMA membership will grow to around 20,000 Maliks. This number is envisaged by the end of 2008.
