Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Maidan-Wardak Province

This is a 20-bed residential facility with a 20-patient outreach capacity with home-based treatment for women that provides comprehensive services to patients mainly from Maidan-Wardak and on occasional basis from nearby provinces. This project is WADAN’s second with INL/CPDAP.

From June 2007, the center has treated 1027 drug addicts (both male and female) through April 30, 2010, in its residential and community based treatment programs. Part of its activities is to provide drug education and information to high-risk individuals from the target community. So far 3,704 persons have received preventive education regarding the existing drug addiction problem and their responsibilities in this regard.

This center is part of a consortium of the first five treatment centers funded by the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau of the United States Department of State (INL) that has commissioned The Colombo Plan to implement five treatment facilities with the cooperation of Ministry of Counter Narcotics of Afghanistan through Afghan NGOs.
