Drug ControlDrug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Kandahar City, Kandahar Province![]() Following the treatment model in Paktia province, WADAN established a comprehensive center in Kandahar in August 2005. As of April 30, 2010, the facility has treated 612 residential patients and 939 home-based patients (mostly women) through the community-based outreach program. The residential facility has the capacity to treat 20 patients from 45-60 days and 20 home-based patients can be served during the same time period. Drug education programming has created awareness in 11,839 social multipliers (students, teachers, farmers, local leaders, mullahs, local government officials, law enforcement agencies, men and women). Initially, the Foreign and Common Wealth Office of the United Kingdom-UK-FCO through the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) financially supported WADAN until March, 2009. To avoid a gap in the service delivery, INL through the drug advisory program of the Colombo Plan agreed to fund this center from April, 2009 which made this center WADAN’s fifth project with CPDAP/INL. The capacity of the center was increased from 15 to 20-bed with CPDAP/INL funding. Updated on: May 3, 2010 |
